Illegal Firecracker Factory Busted
Khandwa police have busted a major illegal firecracker and explosive manufacturing unit, uncovering a large stock of hazardous materials during a raid conducted on the outskirts of the city. Acting on a specific tip-off, the police team raided a deserted building/clubhouse, where explosives were being manufactured and stored illegally. During the operation, police seized more than 2,000 kilograms of explosive material, including gunpowder and suti (string) bombs, which were packed and ready for distribution. A vehicle loaded with explosives was also confiscated from the spot, highlighting the scale of the illegal operation. Officials stated that the factory was being run without any license or safety clearance, posing a serious threat to public safety, especially as the materials were highly inflammable. The accused reportedly fled the scene before the raid, and multiple suspects are currently absconding. Senior police officers reached the spot immediately, and a case has been registered under the Explosives Act and other relevant sections. Special police teams have been formed to trace the accused, identify suppliers, and determine where the explosives were being sent. Authorities have confirmed that the seized explosives have been secured and safely disposed of, and further investigations are underway to find out whether the racket had links to other districts or illegal firecracker networks. This crackdown is being seen as a major success for Khandwa police, especially ahead of festivals, as it has potentially prevented a serious accident or large-scale mishap.
